The Sacred Search

20 Feb

I just finished another great read and thought I’d share the title with you. I’ve never read anything by Gary Thomas before but “Sacred Search” is absolutely astounding.  For those of you who may be in a relationship wondering if and/or hoping it will lead to marriage  – then this is the book for you. If you are engaged and having second thoughts or are at a point when things are seemingly not making much sense and you’re starting to feel confused wondering if you should take the next step – this is the book for you too!

Gary encourages his reader to understand that no relationship should ever be based on infatuation alone. With careful sharing and great wisdom, he leads you to understand how important compatibility is in a relationship and why it’s never too late to say “no”. Gary also points out key truths that we often forget or never hear from others. Chapters include “Soul Mate or Sole Mate”, “You Don’t Want What You Think”, Passive Surrender or Passionate Pursuit”, “A Match Made in Heaven”.

Here are a few excerpts:

“Jesus’ words urge us to find someone with whom we can share a mission instead of an emotional infatuation.”

“Remember: there’s not one right choice. You don’t have to make this one relationship work if it’s not a very good fit. It’s not wrong to want a certain level of happiness; in fact, it’s wise to pursue general compatibility.”

“Infatuation is something you find. Sexual chemistry is something you find. But a strong , intimate, God-honoring marriage that leads to a lifelong partnership and that fosters a sense of oneness? That’s something you make, and it takes a long time to make.”

In my opinion, this is an exceptional read and one that will bring hope and peace to your heart and soul especially if you are struggling or in need of guidance.
