God’s Protection

19 Mar

There’s a saying that we’ve always shared in our home and that is “There’s never a dull moment in the Smith household”. Well, that was very true Wednesday evening. We received a phone call from my brother Samuel and were appalled to learn that two kids approached him at gun point in an attempt to rob him.

As Samuel told his story to us, we couldn’t help but thank the Lord for his protection. Apparently the kids walked by Samuel as he was sitting outside a friend’s home. After they passed by the first time, Samuel had a prompting in his heart that must have only been from God to load the weapon that he carries with him for safety precautions. The kids then circled the block and came back to him and approached him at gunpoint to take what he had. Of  course, he was then prepared to ward them off the second time by shooting a round at the ground.

The community was pleased to know that a man took a stand against this wrongdoing and violence and published his story on the front page of our local paper. You can read it for yourself here:  http://www.timesleader.com/stories/Man-pulls-out-gun-to-ward-off-Wilkes-Barre-armed-robbery-try,125079

Needless to say…..I guess the saying remains the same: “there’s never a dull moment in the Smith household”. 🙂
