Keeping Busy!

28 Aug

This afternoon, my mom and I blanched 102 ears of corn. From years previous, this seemed like nothing as we have usually dealt with a bigger quantity (about 300)! Since Thomas is getting married and I’m in Chicago, we didn’t have to stock up as much for the winter as we have had in years past. The weather was cool and rainy so it was a blessing not to be suffocating in heat since we had water boiling and were working with ‘steamy’ ears of corn!

Yes, wedding details and last minute honeymoon details are still being worked out. It’s hard to believe that in about one week my brother will be a married man and my best friend will become Mrs. Thomas Smith! 🙂 (Today, we went back to the bridal store to get our final fittings! Robin looked so beautiful and exquisite! ) Tomorrow, our family will be spending the day together and making special memories as a family – kind of like a last hoo-rah before Thomas leaves! I guess you can say, we’ll be celebrating “Groom’s Day”!

Good Evening! Thanks for the sweet pictures. It’s great to be able to keep up this way. We are greatly looking forward to seeing you all next weekend. We just recieved 40 doz. ears of corn from a friend. The kids husked it all with Jimmy on the front porch while mommy cut and cut and cut and cut it off the cob (did I mention that I did all the cutting?). It was great fun, really. But my freezer ran-eth over, so I gave 14 doz. to a hungry neighbor!
