Truth Shall Make You Free

A few weeks ago, Mr. Gothard spoke on believing lies vs. knowing the truth. It blessed my heart immensely and I thought I would share some of my notes with you.dsc_00201
John 8:32, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Knowing the truth and believing it in our hearts delivers us from bondage.
We must ask ourselves: Am I a slave to any of Satan’s lies? (I’m inadequate; I’m not smart enough; No one will listen; I’m ugly; I can’t afford it; I need credentials; etc.) Those who are slaves to these lies deny that they are based on this belief system and end up excusing their sin; but those who commit the sin are actually slaves to that sin.
Even Moses believed lies. When the Lord met with him and told him that he was going use him to bring His people out of bondage, Moses told the Lord, “They won’t listen to me!” Why did he think this? The lie stemmed from the rejections he had already experienced from his own people over the years. Then he said to God, “I can’t speak”. However, he forgot that God had made both the deaf and the dumb.
2 Samuel 9 speaks of David meeting with Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan. David wanted to show kindness to any left of the house of Saul. So he sought out any living family member. Mephibosheth was living in Lodebar at the time – which represents a dry and weary place. How many people spiritually live in a barren land as they continue believing lies of the enemy? Their spiritual desires are stunted along with their growth in Christ. Upon meeting David, Mephibosheth exclaimed, “What is thy servant, that thou shouldest look upon such a dead dog as I am?” These words spoken came from his heart. For years, He had believed that he was nothing more than a dead dog. This kept him from being free in Christ and full of joy in his life and doing great things for God.
You see, most of our lies stem from fear and fear is sin. It is the opposite of faith. Did you know that sin and circumstances can dictate and change our personality? Changes in personality can come from believing lies.
We resist God’s grace when we continue to believe lies. These lies control our lives. Not only does it affect our relationship with our Heavenly Father but it also affects our relationships with others.
I encourage you to bring every thought captive. Ask the Lord for wisdom to decipher between truth and error. When He shows you a lie that you are believing, renounce it immediately and replace it with truth! And remember, ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free!

The Devil is the author of lies.Jesus says i am the way the truth and the life.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Gods Holy Word says in John 8:44 Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

he also says Psalms 119:151 Thou [art] near, O LORD; and all thy commandments [are] truth.

John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
Satan knows that even though we are in church we can be lost because we reject truth.

I love the points that you have brought to us ..indeed you speak the truth.
