Happy Valentine’s Day!

13 Feb

Everything is still in a hustle and bustle here at Headquarters. The time is getting closer and closer till our Valentine’s Day Banquet this coming Saturday evening. It is going to be such an elegant, beautiful, formal affair for couples who are involved in the IBLP ministry here in Illinois and elsewhere – I can’t wait! Many preparations are in motion and many jobs are still being assigned. Of course, the staff here keeps occupied during the day with their “jobs”; but once the evening comes there’s ironing, set-up, cleaning, food prep, etc. to be done for this weekend. After having so many busy days, early mornings, and late nights, I was utterly exhausted yesterday but it is so wonderful to be ministering along so many others who have such a passionate desire to serve the Lord!

I came across a few quotes by Helen Steiner Rice that were very fitting for Valentine’s Day. I included them at the bottom of this post. It is such a wonderful thing to know that Jesus Christ is the Author of Romance and loves us like no one else possibly can! He has loved us before we even knew him, He’s loved us so much so by taking our place on the cross, He has continued to love us despite our sin and iniquity, and He will forever love us unconditionally as His child! It’s too wonderful to even fully comprehend!

May we come to love others just as our Lord has loved us! Not only are we commanded to love each other (“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.” 1 John 4:7) but we are also instructed to promote love in others (“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works.” Hebrews 10:24). How can we promote love in others? There are so many ways! We can pray for them, verbally bless them, serve them, encourage them, forgive them, prefer them, etc. May we always look for opportunities to love our Lord by loving those around us!

Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you!

“Love makes us patient, understanding and kind,
And we judge with the heart, not with the mind.
For as soon as love enters the heart’s opened door,
The faults we once saw are not there anymore.”

“Love one another as I have loved you,”
May seem impossible to do –
But if you will try to trust and believe,
Great are the joys that you will receive.
– Helen Steiner Rice

Thanks for sharing this, Sara! What a good reminder – like Sara Groves sings: “Lovin’ a person just the way they are ain’t no small thing; that’s the whole thing.” I’ve really been reminded lately that love means denying self and looking for others best interest. It’s not always a feeling – it’s an action.
Blessings on you, today!! I’m enjoying reading about your work with this ministry 🙂
