New York Trip

13 Aug
We just returned from spending a few glorious days in New York with friends of Old Paths Bible Baptist Church. The church was holding special evening meetings with James Knox from Florida. I was thrilled to be able to go and enjoy fellowship with friends we haven’t seen for quite awhile and was blessed to hear some powerful messages that really stirred my heart.
The first night, Bro. Knox preached on the difference between righteousness and true holiness (Eph. 5:24). It was very eye-opening to realize how often I live my life concerned about my righteous acts and miss out on living in true holiness to the Lord.
Secondly, he preached on the parable of the mote and the beam….very convicting, to say the least! It is often so easy for me to look at others and criticize their so called “problems” and end up thinking more highly of myself. What problems develop when this is the case in one’s life. May God continue to have mercy and may I have a tender heart before Him that He may do a great and deep work in my life so that I may come forth shining as gold and be able to accomplish His divine purposes in my life! There is so much higher ground to attain in the Christian life; there is so much of the mind of Christ to still know; but how important it is to just “know Christ”. May we all never grow weary pressing on and running our race; may we always have eager hearts to seek and thirst after our Saviour!
The third evening, Bro. Knox reminded us that although our righteousness is as filthy rags….God looks at us through His Son Jesus Christ and sees us complete and perfect in Him, well-pleasing in His sight! What an encouragement; what a blessing!
Friday, we went out on the streets of Rochester and some of us passed out tracts/preached/sang/played instruments. What a magnificent sight! We are assured that God’s Word will not return void. Praise His name!
I am so thankful to the Lord for blessing us with special times of encouragment, special men of God to exhort us on to higher ground, and friends that love us as brothers and sisters in the Lord! We had such a great time!

Below are a few pics. of our trip!
